Morning Star Sportfishing Charters is in the business
of providing anglers, from novice to seasoned old salts, with enjoyable adventures at sea. After chartering on Long Island,
New York waters for over 20 years on a part-time basis, Capt. Anthony Taverna retired as an electrical engineer and
mathematics teacher to pursue his bliss-saltwater sportfishing-on a full-time basis, and to share that experience with others.
(Making a couple of bucks to supplement the pension and having fun in the process ain't too bad either.) A native Long
Islander, Capt. Tony has fished the salt since childhood. To extend the fishing season year-round, Capt. Tony now resides
at his winter home in the Lower Florida Keys from December through April.
Capt. Anthony Taverna holds a U.S.
Coast Guard masters license for 25 years and is an I.G.F.A. Certified Captain. The MORNING STAR and MORNING STAR II are
commercially insured and R.F.A. Affiliated Vessels. Capt. Tony has won tournament prizes on both Long Island, New York
and Florida Keys waters and has been featured in magazines.
